july 10 endless bummer

I woke up feeling suffocated by humidity and quite frankly, just bummed about life. At one point between waking up and a lunch date with Shane, I exclaimed "I hate it here"- not even meaning this apartment or this city, but actually this existence. I'm a real downer today. 4REALZ!

I don't want to do the dishes. I just want to drink wine.

I wore this outfit yesterday too. Whatever. As if I care.

SHIRT: Chinatown 2 for $20 (same as the peachy one)
DENIM CUTOFFS: I cut the legs off some thrifted H&M jeans a few years ago and never looked back
SNEAKERS: artist series Converse from 8 or 9 years ago

Still having issues drawing those hands and feet! That's okay. I'll get it back eventually.

SHIRT: vintage 50s handmade pajama top

SNEAKERS: also really, really old, probably purchased around 8 or 9 years ago

July 5 2013 the cinco de quatro effect

Oh my goodnesssssss. I haven't drawn people in so long! It's been 2 years since my last instalment of the what I wore drawings! I ended up drawing my head too small, so I put a sticker over it and started again. Don't even get me started on those disfigured hands and feet.

Anyway. I am really dressing like an old lady lately. Its just a phase.

SHIRT: thrifted (old lady brand)
JEANS: Marc Jacobs
BOAT SHOES: Grasshoppers by Keds

I have been updating the Etsy shop, even if I haven't been updating this old blog of mine! I've been trying to do as much work on the shop as possible since I've been unemployed! Toronto is expensive, especially when you don't have an income. I have spent all my savings and am almost out of credit- I'm inches away from packing it in and moving into my parent's basement... SO- I'm having an emergency sale!

butterfly metamorphosis

Well, I've done it. I've changed. I've decided that it was high time to drop the pseudonyms and start creating under my actual, birth-given name: April Leino. It's not too shabby a name, after all. So why not make things a little more personal? This change feels good.

For those of you who follow my Twitter and Instagram accounts, you will have seen and heard snippets about my plans for a grandiose shop re-launch where a full collection would be revealed in all it's complete and fully-stocked glory for several months now. Life kept getting in the way and slowing down the process, as it has a tendency to do. I decided that enough was enough and that I needed to stop talking about it and actually just get something listed or I might not ever actually do anything with the things that I had already made... just because I didn't have everything ready to the point that I had imagined. OCD much? Yes. It is my way.

So, instead of a grand re-opening with so many wonderful things that will make you lose your mind with wanting- we have April Leino doing things the only way she knows how. Slow and steady. A nice deliberate and leisurely pace of pretty. Hopefully you will still lose your mind with wanting just a little bit because I think this Egyptomania theme I'm working with lately is a good one.
