eden holiday

This is the Eden holiday lookbook. Shot by Anja Verdugo, and a bunch of her pals in Portland. This lookbook is a Bibaphile's dream come true! I mean they even remade the Champagne and Novocaine album artwork, but Anja threw in her signature kaleidoscopic twist to take it over the top and into the 21st century.

I would live in this lookbook if I could. It has the kind of opulent rockstar opium den darkness that I require for life.

erte's coat of many colours

I came across this fantastic portrait of an elderly Romain de Tirtoff, aka Erte, that I found very inspiring. I am really into this patchwork vest he is sporting. So sassy. So Erte. Its almost as if he is wearing a toned down version of one of his illustrations. I love it!

olive leaf

The resolution of these images kind of hurt my feelings a little bit... but imagine the possibilities of stencilling! I know, it seems so early nineties but stencilling has been around for centuries. We can't blame the nineties for everything.

I'm toying with the idea of stencilling the walls in my studio, but I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing in there yet. Will the pattern distract me from working? Will I get lost in the pattern and spend hours daydreaming about living in another time? Who knows? Probably, but I do that most of the time anyway.

If you like the idea of a stencilled pattern and don't want to make your own stencil, Olive Leaf Stencils have a wide assortment of some pretty nice designs to choose from in their Etsy shop.

Allow me to introduce you to my favourite working artist today; Miso aka Stanislava Pinchuk. I have been following her work for several years now and I am still SO in love with her style. Maybe because it reminds me of my own style which is highly, HIGHLY influenced by art nouveau and the arts and crafts movement, and I see a lot of that in Miso's work as well. I just love the fact that she installs on the streets, bringing an ethereal touch to the rough. Her work is such a paradox of delicacy and power. I seriously cannot get enough of it.

Photos of David Bowie taken by Brian Ward in 1969.

You're welcome.

I've been following Teresa Robinson's work for about a year now and to say that I am excited about her new F/W collection of hand forged jewelry would be a grave understatement! I truly am in L.O.V.E. with every single piece in this collection. If I were forced at gunpoint to pick a favourite... I don't think I could do it. It is THAT GOOD. I mean, I basically considered just taking a screen cap of the arcos page at her shop Stone & Honey...

I want it ALL! Every last piece of perfectly arched and stitched loveliness! I am a HUGE fan of mixing textile with metals or wood. It's all about the hard vs the soft. The cold vs the warm. Juxtaposition that is so right!

The lookbook for the collection was photographed by the inimitable Anja Verdugo of Clever Nettle, ANN-YA and Wild Hearts (seriously, this kid can do it all... and all so well!) and styled by Megan Hart of Summerland. These girls did such a good job showcasing Teresa's work. I dare say it made me realise that you can wear all of the pieces all at once and not have it look "too much".

Sometimes a floral leather clog boot comes along and you're not quite sure what to make of it. And other times, John Fluevog makes a pair of floral leather clog boots and something just comes over you. I think I love you, you crazy-art-nouveau-disco-garden-boot.
So very.

i've added a new photography section to the shop, and that means new items! right now you can find a handful of 5x7 landscape prints that i had made up. all of these photographs were taken on my travels through british columbia and alberta. canada is so beautiful, you guys! i'm really glad that i've had the opportunity to explore some of these gorgeous areas. i hope everyone gets a chance to get out of the city every once in a while and take in some of what mother nature has to offer! and if you don't, maybe you should buy a print and see what you're missing! ;)

lucky for me, these styles are timeless! if you've followed me for a while, you know that i used to make... er, um, that is to say, threaten to make these recycled and eco friendly up-cycled cardigans. everything is sourced second hand; from the sweaters to the wool fabrics to the buttons, and sometimes even the yarns that i use to embellish them. it's very important to me to create something that is sustainable, fashionable and interesting out of something that was discarded for whatever reason. it's like giving something a second chance at life! a better life! i take the unwanted in, and bathe them, and clean up any pilling that they may have accumulated in their past and give them a fresh start, and a new style. makeover!

i hope you like what you see, i've listed these two sweaters in the shop today and i've got another two on the sewing table as we speak!

life has been so busy lately, but i really am enjoying getting back into the old etsy scene again. you know, the other day i read through a bunch of old etsy feedback from sales and it made me feel really good! i had the best customers! so sweet and kind. i think that's going to be my new therapy whenever i'm feeling down: read etsy feedback = feel better instantly!

thank you everyone! from the bottom of my heart.

sense and sensibility

round one of new etsy updates is done! a handful of beautiful and sensible vintage shoes pulled from my own personal collection has arrived. all of the shoes are in mint or near mint condition! if you are a size 6 or size 7, i suggest you get yourself over to the shop post haste! i've added a new coupon code for you as well. take 20% OFF when you enter APPLES at the checkout!

the etsy shop is back from the dead! i suppose i should say that it is re-animated. this is definitely not a miracle situation... yet! i've reactivated some of my old listings in an attempt to get the ball rolling on this whole thing. i think that my motivation has changed a bit in the last couple of years and i really want to explore some new ideas. so, as they say; out with the old and in with the new!

since everyone's been so patiently waiting for this promised re-launch, and this is kind of a "soft opening" (that phrase always puts a lump in my throat- it sounds disgusting- but it's really quite innocent) with a promise of better things to come, i'm offering 25% 0FF with coupon code ETERNITY to be applied at checkout. get it? eternity! as in, "i've kept you waiting for an eternity."

if there's anything you were waiting to purchase when i finally reopened the store again, now's the perfect time to snatch it up! i will be retiring most of these styles in the future.

future plans

these lampshades just scream gene kelly to me

i want this set up exactly. two above the table, please.

cute chairs.

cute rugs.

yesterday dawn of LookWhatICanDo posted some photos of a family trip to IKEA on her instagram and it really got me craving a trip out there, but i have to stay away lest i be tempted. i am moving across the country this summer. but, i mean, yellow and mint green bookcases with glass doors? sign me up! (those bookcases are not on the IKEA website, by the way - so disappointing) but i came across the preview for the new PS collection online, and it is really making my inner kindergarten teacher happy!

lately i've been really into the sixties again, specifically the shiny colourful stuff that looks victorian but is too garish to be antique. i blame late nights with stanley kubrick films. i suppose it's the next logical step after all this dark and gloomy victorian-grandma-heritage stuff that i've grown so fond of. i think it's what i always aspire to in the back of my mind, but it never quite turns out looking quite mod enough.

also, dawn has just updated her etsy shop with a whole new batch of jackrabbit-love-creatures just in time for easter. her rabbits are kind of a cross between a pillow and a soft sculpture, and are all amazing! she uses vintage fabrics so if you see one you like, you should not hesitate to purchase! her work is so worth it!
