fops and dandies

I've added some new vintage lovelies to the shop! I broke out the masquerade masks to really get into character! Everything has sort of a Valentines vibe to it, but ended up looking all messed up because of my weird little brain!

This is the most perfect pink 60s dress! But styled so I look like an anachronistic 18th century French aristocrat!

This fitted blazer would be so perfect... except for the fact that it just does not fit me! I went a little Oscar Wilde with this one but mixed with... err... um... a little bit of this and a little bit of that, hence the snarl.

This needlepoint tapestry bag is just so pretty! It has the smallest needlepoint stitching that I have ever seen! And I like black.

And what says "Happy Valentines Day" better than a white kitten? How about a white kitten with a beaded handbag!

Meow! You can find all of the above in my esty shop right now!

I don't know why I find it necessary to torture myself by searching for shoes in my size in Etsy vintage every time I am certifiably, absolutely, positively, flat B.R.O.K.E. But I do. I do find it necessary. I must be some sort of footwear masochist or something. I'm sure the pervs over on Flickr would have a field day with that admission... but I digress.

These are the fruits of my labor, with links!

Good god! These are perfect! SO GORGEOUS! They're listed as a 6.5 or 7 and they're vinyl (which is the only reason I'm not breaking out the credit; my feet don't like man made fibers) at halfmagic! Somebody buy them so I can live vicariously through you!

Okay. Red and white spectators? Could these be any better? They're absolutely adorable... and a half size too big for me. Oh yeah, they're only TEN BUCKS! at TheVintageShack! Now you HAVE to get them!

More cute spectators! This time in real leather! And a spiffy classic colour combo to boot! Again, they're a size 7 which is too big for me, so I can't get them. These are also really cheap, at dahlilafound, so somebody snatch these up quick!

These little t-straps are so adorable! They're almost identical to a pair my mum had in the 70's that I used to play dress-up in! These look to be in pristine condition and even come with the original box! From metroretrovintage.

Okay. I freaking LOVE glitter shoes! I used to have a pair of glitter shoes that my grandma gave me and my sister for dress-up, and they were my ultimate favorite shoes ever! About a month ago, I found a pair of gold glitter shoes in my size on Etsy and I kept putting them in, and taking them out of my shopping cart. I thought I bought them... but in the end I hadn't, and now they're gone forever! Tragic! These silver glitter shoes are identical to the gold ones I missed out on, but not my size! But if you're a size 6.5 you can get them at MetroVintage for a steal of a deal!

I feel better now that I've shared my burden with all of you! Thanks kids!

workin' in a coal mine

A year and a half ago, Shane's sister was in the midst of moving to Toronto and she was getting rid of a lot of stuff and putting some into storage. We were having a really fun time going through her stuff and having yard sales, but she was having a very hard time letting some things go! She had piles and piles of clothes that she was either going to keep or not keep depending on the pile. I of course, took this as my opportunity to snag some free gear! Everything I enquired about was stuff that she was keeping. I made her try on a few things that I fancied, but thought that they looked too small for her. This dress was one of them. It didn't fit, but she wanted to keep it, just in case... so I took it when she was in the bathroom! hahaha! I'm so bad! I don't think she even noticed that it was missing, because I never heard a peep from her.

is this elm street or something?

The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli

So it seems as if there's been an outbreak of nightmares lately! Specifically on January 5th. Several people, including Shane and myself had nightmares that night. It seems like some strange phenomenon involving the collective conscious. I think it's interesting, and I wonder what it might mean.

Did anyone else have a nightmare that night?

little nut house on the prairie

I woke up this morning with last night's sleep knot abstracted and teased into the most amazing hair sculpture perched atop my head! I was absolutely smitten with it! I thought that it made me look like a deranged Gibson Girl! Awesome! So I threw on this wacky ensemble and went about my day. I bought these yellow tights over a year ago and I've only worn them once. I feel like the chicken lady when I wear them, and that disturbs me...
