I'm Hungry

Ummm. These Walnut Cupcakes Topped With Rose White Chocolate Mousse And Baklava are probably the most perfect thing I've heard of since the cupcake doughnut combo that miss chockylit posted a few months ago. What does this say about me? I like my deserts in multiple layers... a sweet tooth mash up. I have a problem.

I Heart Etsy

I was playing around with new theme ideas and instead of doing Valentines I decided that the Queen of Hearts was way sexier, and had a longer shelf life. There are a few new additions to the shop right now!

Back By Popular Demand

I've listed two pairs of these pretty little earrings in the shop. They didn't last very long the first time around, so if you liked them the first time, don't miss out now!

Wool And Water

Amy has a new paper doll in her Etsy shop especially for Valentine's Day! Although, I find Amy's illustration to be so incredibly delicate and so gorgeous that I would keep it up all year 'round! I know a few girls that would just swoon at the sight of this Valentine's lady, so I just had to share her here!

Go Green

The always lovely Susan and I swapped some goodies recently and it seems as though we both received our packages on the very same day! I'm a huge fan of Susan's Etsy shop, especially her Original Intent project series. I love being able to see what has inspired someone's work. I find it very inspiring when anyone sees inspiration in what most people would consider "ordinary". It's a beautiful point of view.
Thank you so much Susan! For everything.

Let's Get Patriotic!

Isn't that the scariest promo shot you have ever seen? I stole it from The Choir Practice Myspace. It's like Jason Vorhees times twelve!

Congratulations to The Choir Practice, who on Monday evening had the illustrious privilege of opening for Hockey night in Canada to a sold out audience at GM Place! Yes that's right folks. Oh Canada! and thousands of screaming fans!

Don't they look classy?

Film Boyfriends

Seven days of beautiful films and not one of them from any of my boyfriends.
Wes Anderson, I still love you.
Tim Burton, I love you too.
Baz Luhrman, you still hold a special place in my heart.
Michel Gondry, I think I love you most of all.

Beautiful Film Week Day 7

Peter Greenaway's 1994 film The Cook The Thief His Wife And Her Lover takes gorgeous painterly cinematography and juxtaposes it against a violent and unsavory story line. It's not a film for the faint of heart.

Beautiful Film Week Day 6

2046 is director Kar Wai Wong's 2004 visual masterpiece about lost memories and of course, the future. Absolutely stunning.

Beautiful Film Week Day 5

Immortal Beloved is Bernard Rose's 1994 Ludwig von Beethoven bio pic starring Gary Oldman. This movie makes me cry like a baby every time... and I'm hella-hard.

Beautiful Film Week Day 4

What beautiful film list is complete without the 2001 film, Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain? This movie is all red and green saturated colour to the max! It is also magically sweet with just a hint of darkness to keep it from becoming too saccharine.

Beautiful Film Week Day 3

Manhattan is Woody Allen's 1979 love letter to New York. Every scene is essential. It's like a million photographs stitched together. Perfection.

Beautiful Film Week Day 2

One man's blood-bath is another man's idea of beautiful film.

In this 2005 film adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel, Robert Rodriguez uses a mainly black and white film with only small doses of saturated colour to create a spectacular effect. It's a super violent film, but even the blood looks nice.

Beautiful Film Week

Susan posted about a blogging assignment for a week long list of beautiful movies, and I thought that this would be a great motivator for posting every day! It will be a great random list of beauties!

Today's example of beautiful film is Paul Thomas Anderson's 2002 film Punch Drunk Love. It features the amazing artwork of the late Jeremy Blake. Music and colour interludes are seamlessly integrated into the story. P. T. Anderson employs the most amazingly subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) use of light and tension to create this beautiful and funny film.

2008

I feel like I'm a bit behind doing my 2008 new year entry on the 14th of January... but that's just how I roll. Late.

January has always been the most depressing month, in my opinion. You pack up all the sparkle and sugar of Christmas and you're left with this blah void. January is like a water popsicle. Bland and flavourless. I've never been one for reflecting on the last year's events and vowing to quickly make improvements in the next; so January has never really inspired false hope and failed resolutions for me either, which I think is a good thing. That said, however, I did make some decisions recently about my future.

In December last year I made some changes. I quit my job and spent a month with my family. I've finally solved that rubic's cube Teagan! There's nothing like a little stress-free rest and relaxation while Mum waits on you hand and foot! I'm trying to change my way of thinking about what I'm capable of achieving. I've always been a bit self deprecating about my talents and I've decided that this needs to change. It's getting easier for me to accept compliments without the addition of sarcastic comments, and I finally believe that I might be able to succeed. Other people believed in my talent long ago... now it's my turn to see it. Little by little, I'm going to make it after all! Move over Mary Tyler Moore, there's a new sister doin' it for herself!

Walking In A Winter Wonderland

I'm back from my (extended) four week Christmas vacation! I hadn't been home to an Ontario winter for five years, and the cold was a bit of a shock to the system! It was beautiful! Sunshine and snow beats grey and rain any day!
